Something about it
This
Sharp
Peek-a-boo
Come-and-go
Catch-me-if-you-can
Pain
Sharp ! pain
That slaps me across my face pain
These physical shots of
Tingling pain
Take-no-prisoners-pain
Teaches me
Teaches us
To surrender
[To pray]
Down-on-our-knees
Pray
God, please help me now –
Teach me
Train me
Guide me
To deal with these shooting jabs
of sharp pain
This Invasion
Of my pretenses/and/claims
on life
Comfy,
Pleasurable &
“nice.”
Yes, I know, I know, I know –
Pain builds character –
guts –
wisdom –
laughter and
service-to-you, God ….
In this game of surprise we call
Life
So – – –
Hurt it be, then….let it hurt
As Spirit grows stronger
And stronger
And stronger – as if without end –
And you God,
Find and build
A better
And better
And better Me
To be your
Partner/servant/apprentice
To what it takes
To live this gift
This pain
We call
Life.
This is to my sweetheart, Rosie, who lived this seemingly ceaseless pain just as Spring, ’22, arrived and is now slowly coming out of it. For all of us.
